27th Annual Levine/Slaughter Golf Classic a tremendous success!
The 27th Annual Golf Classic benefiting the Levine/Slaughter Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County was a wonderful success for the program and for our young people. Over 200 golfers came out to Woodlands Country Club to enjoy a delicious brunch, the Golf Ball Drop, a round of golf, silent auction, live auction and a wonderful dinner. Although the golfers did experience some inclement weather, everyone kept a friendly, competitive attitude.
Right before the opening ceremony, a helicopter flew over and dropped about 200 golf balls on to the golf course. The golf ball that was dropped closest to the pin won cash for its owner! The winners were: First Place: Chip Bamond (Upcoming Board Chair); Second Place: Josephine Hart (Board Member); Third Place: Debi Case (Board Member). After the Golf Ball Drop, Gary Rotella opened with an overview of the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Golf Classic. Savannah, the 2013 Youth of the Year performed the National Anthem with the American Legion Color Guard presenting the flag.
With the shot gun start, the golfers began the tournament. They enjoyed food and beverages on the course along with live entertainment. After the tournament, the event proceeded with the Boys & Girls Clubs 2012 – 2013 accomplishments by Matt Organ, Executive Vice President and then live auction, lead by Harry Stampler. Thanks to the generous guests, over $45,000 was raised for the Boys & Girls Clubs. Savannah also addressed the crowd with her inspiring story of what being a club kid means to her.
We give special thanks to the Golf Classic co-chairs: Carola Lueder and Bill Rotella along with the entire Levine/Slaughter Board for this successful event!read more
